bank med, beirut
John Robertson Architects won the invited competition to design the new flagship headquarters for Bank Med in Central Beirut. The client’s aspiration is for a timeless design that would stand out as an icon in the city of Beirut and that would compete with a plethora of projects by the world’s leading architects.
The facade design taps into Beirut’s rich modernist architectural legacy, giving the first impression that the HQ has been there since time immemorial, whilst having sophisticated detailing and state-of-the-art materiality. The design takes a cue from mid-century US corporate modernism.
Fakhry was the design lead for the facade and interiors.
