bush house & melbourne house

BUSH HOUSE CENTRE BLOCK is the iconic Grade II - Listed former headquarters of the BBC World Service. The Travertine-clad Reception is listed and hence any refurbishment intervention has to be deferential to the existing historical fabric and has to operate within the constraint of a listed space. The proposed design draws from the strength of feature elements and structures that relate to the Reception as objects would relate to a vessel.

The design team was tasked by the agents to create autonomous designs for the 4 buildings due to the location of the Bush House campus between Covent Garden (media), Fleet Street (legal), Strand (education) and Holborn (financial).
